How Grand Avenue Brokers

 got started.

Vern Harris started the company in 2014 as an investment group. He got licensed in 2016 to focus on helping other investors and joined A Better Way Realty in 2018. Since 2015 we have been focused on investing and have assisted other investors in finding creative opportunities to expand their wealth and social impact.

To date $108,961,846 (as of October 2022) of personal transactions. Over 120 deals.

Largest single deal to date $15.5 million, 176 beds in total in a portfolio of 12 properties. 

Largest single facility 53 beds.

Vern Harris has garnered vast experience in business has been an entrepreneur since 1987 when he started his first business venture. Leveraging this business acumen has afforded Vern the distinct opportunity to develop a keen understanding of strategic and operational business aspects across independent businesses. In 2014, Vern delved into real estate investment and successfully acquired his real estate license to refine his focus even further in the assisted living industry, by driving a higher value proposition.


Vern’s expertise in the assisted living industry is unmatched. He is a luminary in this field and buyers, sellers and investors in this industry directly benefit from his expertise. He drives a continued learning

narrative across his business and his team to provide all stakeholders with creative, value-maximizing business brokerage and real estate solutions to grow, buy or sell businesses in the assisted living industry.


Vern is passionate about the assisted living industry and as a result, created the Denver Association of Assisted Living Residences: Colorado Chapter of the Residential Assisted Living National Associations. There are over 600 participants in the association, and as a direct result of his unrivaled networks has closed over 40 transactions in this industry over the last three years.

Lacy Lowry - Support

Lacy Lowry is a detailed-driven office coordinator with over 15 years of business ownership experience. With her thorough knowledge of business operation, she excels at creating a positive work environment for successful team communication and collaboration.


Lacy has extensive exposure and a high understanding of property research and analysis. This allows her to actively participate in projects, collect data and provide support on all levels. She produces consistent, high-quality information to ensure all project expectations are exceeded while maintaining the capability to prioritize the client's needs and stay on task.


In her free time, Lacy enjoys spending time with her family, listening to live music, watching volleyball, and fishing whenever she gets the chance.
